A Borderline result should be double checked.

If clinical symptoms, suspicious of B. canis, continue a direct pathogen test is recommended (PCR-test or smear).
False negative results can occur if testing is done before seroconversion (10 days p.i.) or immunosuppression as part
of the babesiosis with delayed/lack of antibody production is present.
